Imaginings on Water
This series began in 2004 as "The Secret Life of Raindrops" which explored the various patterns rain made as it courses down a horizontal plane. Water, all of life's original home, is at once, one of Earth's most needed, misused and mysterious of elements. It has inspired me to expand my exploration of water's many faces and kinetic energies that shape and reshape our Earth and ourselves. As an artist, I find it is an exciting ongoing challenge to make visible water's soothing and often powerful force.
I approach the drawings in a free and serendipitous way, mainly using liquid based mediums that include ink, rainwater, tea washes, acyrlic and bits of collage material as textural counterbalance to the drawn lines and washes, as needed to complete the composition. |
